Sir Ken Knight

Sir Ken held the positions of Chief Fire Officer of Dorset and West Midlands Fire Service before becoming London’s Fire Commissioner until 2007.

In 2007, he was appointed as the Government's Chief Fire and Rescue Adviser, and is the independent adviser on the Palace of Westminster Fire Safety Committee. and Chair of FSH/0, the strategic British Standards committee for fire safety standards. Following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower in 2017, the Government appointed Sir Ken as Chair of the Independent Expert Advisory Panel.

Sir Ken was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2006 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the fire and rescue service.
